Legal Costs of Divorcing
On 1st April 2013 the eligibility rules for Legal Aid changed and it is no longer available in many cases. We understand that costs are a concern to clients at a time when finances are already tight.
For that reason our Family Law team offer a range of services for our clients including a fixed fee of £350 (plus VAT) and Court costs to assist you in completing the court documents required for a straight forward undefended divorce.
We also offer a “pay as you go” service charged at our hourly rates to help advise you throughout the process as necessary. If you need representation at court this can also be provided at a fixed fee depending on your circumstances and the complexity of your case.
We still offer our comprehensive family legal service providing detailed advice, representation at court and attending to all correspondence on your behalf at our hourly rates which range from £150 - £245 plus VAT.
If your circumstances mean that you are eligible for Legal Aid, we will advise you accordingly and offer specialist advice and representation.
We aim to simplify the process and the law so that you can make an informed choice as to what is best for your family and you. To help you decide what service suits you best, our family solicitors offer a free initial consultation of up to half an hour to discuss procedures and costs generally. Alternatively, you can seek advice from a specialist for a fixed fee consultation of £85 inclusive of VAT for ½ hour or £150 inclusive of VAT for a whole hour.
Our team are supported by other specialist solicitors in the firm who are able to advise and assist regarding the sale and purchase of property which often occurs during the process of separation and divorce and sorting out the finances. We always advise clients who are separating from their partners or who are divorcing to make a new will and our Wills and Probate solicitors work closely with the family team to provide you with a comprehensive service and with making a will.
