Care Proceedings and Adoption

Our partner led team includes three members of the specialist Law Society Children’s Panel.

Care proceedings can be very distressing and clients need the best possible advice. We act for parents, grandparents, other family members, family friends and foster carers where children have been taken into care. We are able to guide you through the process of pre-proceedings meetings, any Emergency Protection Orders and the Care case itself. We also provide assistance for those wanting contact with children in care or those wanting to discharge Care Orders.  If your child is placed in Secure Accommodation we can assist. We also provide advice about Placement Orders.

Parents and those with parental responsibility are entitled to free legal aid for the Care proceedings themselves. Other parties may qualify for legal aid. If not, we offer our hourly rates service to include representation in Court.  We can discuss with you the likely costs and hourly rates should you not be entitled to legal aid. 

We also have experience in dealing with adoptions both for the adopters and the birth family. We can advise about step-parent adoptions and adoptions by foster carers.
