Our staff consists of a variety of different qualifications and experience; solicitors, a licensed Conveyancer, FILEX, clerks, paralegals, a trainee solicitor, typists, secretaries, finance and administration roles and receptionists.  They all play an important role in providing an expert legal service and meeting our clients’ needs and therefore in the success of the Firm.

Child Care Paralegal

Full-time, Permanent, Salary according to experience and qualifications

Our Partner led family team have a breadth of experience and expertise in all aspects of family law.  Our specialism and excellence is reflected in the number of Law Society Panel members that we have in both Children and Family law. This is an opportunity to work within a very friendly but a very busy, fast moving area of family law within the Child Care team which is all Legally Aided work.

The ideal candidate will have had previous experience working in a similar role either in the public or private sector.

They will ideally be educated to degree level

Essential requirements – team working, attention to detail, confident dealing with people from all walks of life, tactful, patient, calm. Well organised, good IT skills and interpersonal skills.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate effective team working skills and a commitment to working with vulnerable children and adult in difficult family circumstances, the work of which is governed by the need to adhere to strict timescales.

The role will require primarily the following:

To undertake all aspects of legal work relating to supporting the solicitors / senior solicitors in the conduct of their caseloads and to assist in the drafting of documentation for court, including applications for Emergency Protection Orders and Care Orders.

To assist in the preparation of applications for court, including obtaining statements from the client and partner agencies and to liaise with a variety of professionals including internal customers, courts, solicitors and barristers chambers.

Conduct of routine child care based cases under direct day to day supervision – subject to level of experience.

To undertake the preparation and update of court bundles for all hearings before the Magistrates, County and High Courts.

To undertake research on points of law or practice.

Lawyer - Private Client


Full Time Role (37.5 hours) ordinarily based at the Northampton office joining a well-established and dynamic private client team headed by Senior Partner and accredited by Law Society Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme.

All round experience in private client work required to include: –

o   Wills and Estate Planning

o   Trusts

o   Probate and Estate Administration

o   Lasting Powers of Attorney

o   Court of Protection

o   Elderly and vulnerable clients

o   Care home fees          

  

·     Ability to undertake a mixed caseload of private client work supported by a secretary.

·       Willing and able to undertake networking and marketing as required to assist the department in building levels of work.

·       IT literacy and familiarity with Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Word and Video Conferencing tools etc. are requirements.

·       Willingness to undertake annual mandatory training as required by the Law Society under WIQS.

 

Our preferred candidate will either be a solicitor or legal executive of 5 years + PQE who enjoys working as a part of a close team.

 

Ideally, the candidate will be local to Northamptonshire or the surrounding counties, wishing to establish themselves at the Firm, continuing to assist the long- standing clients of the retiring lawyer and give excellent client care.

 

Qualification as a STEP practitioner and/or accreditation with Solicitors for the Elderly are desirable but not required.

 

This vacancy arises due to a reorganisation of staff at the Firm.  There is an existing caseload and knowledge and experience in dealing with high value estates and trusts is essential.

The Firm is interested offering advice and assistance on Care Funding, NHS Funding and the challenging of local authority assessment.  A candidate with knowledge and experience in this area would be of particular interest.
