Commercial litigation refers to the process of resolving disputes between businesses. Such disputes generally arise from one of the following: –

Resolution of a dispute may require court proceedings but before that, it may involve issuing or responding to a letter before action, settlement negotiations and/or considering a form of Alternate Dispute Resolution such as mediation. The objective is to bring the dispute to an end and seek compensation or other interim relief (such as injunctions).

The litigation process can be costly for a business both in the investment of time that is required from business owners as well as in legal costs. It also carries risk and often, the issues in dispute can be complex (sometimes needing the input from independent experts).
